try:
Suggest five classroom activities for teaching comparison of fractions to Grade 5 students. Include one manipulative-based option, one collaborative option, one real-life application, one low-resource option and one extension task. Do not assume all students have the same readiness.
The second prompt produces alternatives that support professional choice.
AI can support differentiated lesson planning
Teachers can ask AI to create scaffolds, simplified instructions, vocabulary support, extension prompts or alternative response formats.
However, differentiation should still begin with actual evidence about students. AI does not know which learner needs which support unless the teacher makes that judgement.

- Is the timing realistic?
- Are the resources actually available?
- Does the activity match the objective?
- Is assessment embedded throughout the lesson?
- Does it account for the learners in this classroom?
- Are there accessibility or inclusion concerns?
- Does it protect student privacy?
- What will I do if the plan fails?
An AI-generated plan should be treated as a draft, not as professional approval.
What student information should teachers avoid sharing?
Teachers should be cautious about entering personally identifiable, confidential, health-related, behavioural or safeguarding information into general-purpose AI systems unless their institution has explicitly approved the system and established appropriate data-protection procedures.
A safer approach is to describe learning needs without identifying the student. For example, ask for ways to support “a learner who needs additional vocabulary scaffolding” rather than uploading confidential records.
AI and assessment: use carefully
AI can help draft formative questions, practice tasks, rubrics and sample responses. It can also help teachers generate variations quickly.
But the teacher should verify accuracy and decide whether the assessment genuinely measures the intended outcome. High-stakes grading and decisions about individual learners require human professional responsibility.
AI should not automate teacher reflection
Reflection is based on what actually happened in a particular classroom. AI was not there unless the teacher gives it evidence, and even then the professional interpretation belongs to the teacher.
A useful approach is to write the evidence first:
- what students understood;
- what misconceptions appeared;
- who was disengaged;
- where timing failed;
