Developing Practitioner Research Programme
The Annual State of School Transformation Report is being developed as a recurring practitioner-research programme focused on the real conditions under which schools improve, stagnate or decline.
The purpose is not to produce another report that sits unread. The aim is to gather useful evidence from school leaders, teachers, parents and institutional data, then translate that evidence into practical questions for leadership and policy.
Proposed Areas of Study
School leadership workload, priorities and decision-making.
Student engagement, assessment and learning quality.
Parent trust, expectations and communication.
Curriculum change and internationalisation.
Teacher development, observation and professional learning.
School culture, staff morale and teacher retention.
Technology, AI and digital transformation.
Enrollment, growth and institutional sustainability.
Why an Annual Report Matters
Schools operate in a fast-changing environment, but many strategic decisions are still based on anecdote, isolated success stories or assumptions. A recurring research programme can help identify patterns over time and distinguish temporary trends from deeper changes.
If schools report increasing difficulty retaining teachers, for example, the useful question is not only how many teachers leave. We should also ask why they leave, which conditions influence retention and what leadership practices appear to make a difference.
Research Approach & Evidence Discipline
Future editions may combine surveys, structured interviews, practitioner case studies, document analysis and anonymised institutional indicators. Methodology, sample size, limitations and interpretation should be published transparently with each report.
No findings are being claimed before the evidence exists. This page describes the research programme. Findings will be published only when sufficient evidence has been collected and reviewed.
How Schools Can Contribute
Schools, leaders and educators may eventually be invited to participate in surveys, interviews or case-study submissions. Participation criteria and data-handling practices will be stated clearly when each research cycle opens.
How Findings Will Be Used
Findings may inform the School Transformation Framework, the School Transformation Index, professional-learning priorities and future resources for schools.
